About the job:
The Senior Service Engineer, CyberSecruity will be based in The Hague, Netherlands and will join the Architecting and Engineering Team within the Chief Technology Office (CTO), a strategic business function leading the NCIA Technology Strategy and associated strategic change initiatives required to deliver NATO's digital transformation.
This role will be instrumental in supporting the digital transformation of NATO ICT, enabling the Agency's technical vision, and IT engineering strategy, with a particular focus on strengthening cybersecurity initiatives. The Senior Service Engineer will play a crucial role in developing and enforcing cybersecurity policies and standards, ensuring that all aspects of NATO's ICT services are secure, resilient, and aligned with the latest industry practices. This position demands a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating cyber threats, advancing cybersecurity architecture, and collaborating with international partners to safeguard NATO's digital assets. Areas of focus for this new post:
• Design & Implementation: define, design, implement, and continuously improve common architecting and service engineering practices to enhance technical coherence, cybersecurity, and interoperability of C3 capabilities and ICT services.
• Policy & Standards Enforcement: monitor, evaluate, and ensure adherence to cybersecurity policies, CTO technical guidance, and architecting standards across projects, services, and initiatives.
• Cybersecurity Development: support the creation and management of cybersecurity architecture and engineering practices, Cyber Security by Design principles, and the automation of cybersecurity testing and assessment processes.
• Support & Guidance: provide cybersecurity design engineering support and direction to projects and services, ensuring alignment with NATO policies, directives, and standards.
• Collaboration & Representation: represent CTO in multinational working groups, collaborate with NATO, allied, and industry partners to advance cybersecurity initiatives within NATO.
• Process Improvement: contribute to reviewing and updating existing Agency directives, processes, SOPs, and instructions, ensuring continuous improvement in all aspects of service design and delivery.
• Project Assurance: support project board assurance roles and ensure that CTO guidance and standards are applied consistently.

About you:
The essential requirements for this post are:
· In-depth experience in the area of ICT cybersecurity and design for ideally military CIS/C4ISR systems or similar complex IT systems.
· Proven experience in guiding the development, implementation, and integration of information assurance and cyber defence capabilities into IT service delivery in a complex IT service delivery environment, ranging from communications infrastructure to application services.
· Technical and in-depth knowledge of current and evolving cybersecurity technologies and frameworks, to include, but not limited to, Zero Trust architectures, Data Centric Security, and secure interconnections of networks.
· Experience of working with a diverse, multi-disciplinary and multi-national team.
· Proven ability to moderate cybersecurity and architecture related discussions with multi-disciplinary teams.
· Proven ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
· Proven experience with presenting complex technical concepts to a diverse audience and at times non-technical audience.
One or more of the following would additionally be desirable:
· Comprehensive understanding of operational tasks in the NATO C2 structure at strategic, operational and tactical levels;
· Certification in Industry or Nationally recognized Cyber Security and audit frameworks and Standards
· Knowledge and experience in underlying concepts, best practices and tools of C4ISR Systems, Cyber Security, System and Software Engineering and IT Service Provision;
· Demonstrated progressive management experience leading projects requiring an end-to-end Cyber Security perspective, effectively managing more than one project;
· A certification in The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) and ArchiMate modelling language.
· Knowledge in ITIL, COBIT, CISSP, or equivalent;
· Prior experience of working in an international environment comprising both military and civilian elements;
· Knowledge of NATO responsibilities and organization, including Allied Command Operations and Allied Command Transformation.
